The Book of Eliphaz

1. The word of the Lord that came unto Eliphaz, the son of Josiah, on mount Carmel in the land of Manasseh. 2. And the Lord said to Eliphaz: behold, the days cometh wherein I shall unleash great division and quarrel upon this land. 3. Its people have turned away from me and grow weary of obeying the word of the Lord. 4. And those loyal to God shall wander from the vastness of the sea unto the splendor of the mighty ocean, and from the mountains to the east through the plains in the west, 5. they shall hasten to seek the word of the Lord, and shall find it not. 6. Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying: go and cry in the ears of the house of Jacob, and all the families of Israel. 7. For they have defiled this land with their wickedness, and I shall suffer it no longer. 8. Out of the east a heinous force shall emerge and cast its shadow upon all the dwellers of the land. 9. And in every province, and in every city, there shall be a great cry; for the blood of the innocent is spilled. 10. The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the juvenile and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs. 11. And I shall give the land and all that is therein, to the hands of strangers: I the Lord God have spoken it.

Chapter 1

1. Yet even in the times of despair and anguish I shall not forget the faithful. 2. I will raise up a remnant who will cling onto me and who shall not erase my name from their hearts. 3. To those who walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; 4. I will give peace in the land, in time of war; and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; 5. and I will rid evil of the land, and neither shall the sword go through your fields. 6. And I will give thee the treasures of Japheth, and hidden riches of Ham, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, who call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. 7. And there is hope in thine end, and thy children shall come again to their own border; 8. and they shall need not lift up sword against an invader, neither shall they behoove to learn the art of war. 9. Again there shall be heard in this place, even in the cities of Manasseh, and in the streets of Megiddo, 10. the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the groom, and the voice of the bride, 11. the voice of them that shall say, Praise the Lord of hosts: for the Lord is good. 12. And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the Lord’s name is praised, the faithful shall have joy and gladness and wealth. 13. Upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness. 14. For they have not forsaken me when evil was great. 15. And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy kinsman, and the alien of faraway land, and the fatherless, and the widow, and the orphan that are among you. 16. And thou shalt know that thy temple shall be in peace. 17. Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon thine land.

Chapter 3

1. And the Lord said unto me: Son of man, I send thee to the rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me. 2. For they went and served idols and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the celestial bodies, which I have not commanded. 3. For I am the Lord thy God; behold, I created the sun, and moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, and the earth whereon thou liest. 4. I have formed the world and its inhabitants as a wondrous ball and it moveth to and fro by my command; and I scattered the offspring of the sons of Noah abroad to Tarshish, and to Babel, and to Javan, and to Teman; 5. and their appearance has changed in each place, but they stand erect as all other children of Adam. 6. And hitherto there are lands bestowed with light while others are veiled in darkness; some embraced by day while others are enshrouded in night; some bask in summer while others endure winter. 7. And thus sang king David: O Lord, I will praise thee; marvellous are thy works; in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. 8. While the earth remaineth, cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. 9. The Lord God made the earth, and the sun and moon; and the planets and all the stars that are in heaven. 10. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel: thou shalt have no other gods before me and thou shalt not make thee any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above. 11. Yet the children of Israel did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and worshipped the sun, and moon, and the stars, and forgat the Lord their God. 12. And I shall put thee to the sword and avenge the quarrel of my covenant; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of thine enemy. 13. And I shall disperse you among the heathen, and a sword shall pursue you: and your land shall lie barren, and your cities shall lay in ruins.

Chapter 4

1. Then I saw a vision which I greatly feared. 2. From the land of Magog came a great army of three hundred thousand mighty men of valour. 3. They conveyed shields and drew bows and had seven thousand chariots of iron. 4. From the land of winter they came, and their skin was as pale as the snow of mount Hermon. 5. Also the sons of the kingdom of Gog, which are called by the name Scythians, joined Magog in the war. 6. From the besieged cities rose a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night. 7. The soldiers of Gog and Magog came upon the slain and spoiled the cities which lay in waste. 8. And they hough the horses and burn the chariots with fire, 9. and the great army chased the survivors who fled, and many were overthrown and wounded or slain. 10. And on the other side of the valley, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords hence marcheth; 11. Zarephath, Sepharad, Ashkenaz, Grecia and Tiras with them; all of them with shield and helmet. 12. About six hundred thousand on foot that were men and the number of chariots of iron were twenty and two thousand. 13. Now they gathered together their armies to battle near Khorev which belongeth to Gomer near the river Ister. 14. And the armies of Gog and Magog went out to battle led by the king of Magog Vladeti; 15. The plain of Gomer saw a very great slaughter, and the waters of the river Ister turned to blood. 16. Then the king of Magog cursed the Lord God and saith: 17. I now come up against the Lord in this place and destroyed it; you trusted in the Lord to save thee, and thine people lay slain. 18. For the God ye worship is weak, and it came to pass, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer to thine prayers. 19. Whereon do ye trust? how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand? 20. And the offspring of Amalek shall take his revenge on JEHOVAH and his people were fallen by the sword! 21. And I saw a white horse that he sat on, and he went forth conquering the lands of Japheth. 22. In the years of the reign of Vladeti king of Magog the days on the earth were as a shadow. 23. And there was a famine in the land and a great plague cometh with it.
